December 21 2012
I am proud to serve as President of Freedom Waters, a non-profit foundation providing boating opportunities and marine related activities for people with life threatening illnesses and others with special needs. Much of our effort is directed toward children with cancer. Our boat parade party was for these children.
I am pleased to report that by more than 250 children and their families were in attendance. For each of the last seven years, Paul and Michelle Flanigan (owners of the Quarterdeck restaurants) have graciously opened their lovely home on the intra-coastal waterway to Freedom Waters for our annual Winterfest boat parade party.
The weather was ideal, the food delicious, and the Christmas Spirit was everywhere. For me this is always a very special occasion because I get to visit with many of the children and their parents that I have taken on boating outings aboard my trawler, RACHEL ANN.
It’s through the generosity of people like Paul and Michelle Flanigan and the dozens of volunteers who gathered last Saturday night at the Flanigan home that make Freedom Waters Foundation special.
2012 has proved to be a special year for Freedom Waters. The number of children in our programs have grown dramatically and we are now providing boating and fishing outings for wounded veterans. Even bigger things are planned in the New Year.
Freedom Waters and Luke Brown Yachts we wish everyone the best wishes for the New Year!
