Built by well-known custom builder Vic Carpenter of Canada. CUSTOM BUILT FOR RACING in the Chicago-Mackinac/Port Huron-Mackinac races, DAZY has been in the Great Lakes throughout her entire existence. Due to circumstances she sat in storage 26 years in Traverse City, Michigan and was purchased by a knowledgeable yachtsman in 2010. Over the following two years he implemented a total keel to masthead rebuild which included updating the majority of her systems to modern, state of the art equipment. DAZY has recently been donated to the Inland Seas Education Association and is offered for lease with option to purchase.
Built of Western red cedar laminates using the WEST system, DAZY appears and looks today as if she has recently been commissioned. Truly in pristine condition she is outfitted for both serious cruising and/or racing. With her full compliment of nearly new sails from Quantum, winches and sail handling gear from Harken and a unique divided cockpit separating helmsman from crew, the prospect of sailing her is exciting indeed. Along with all the amenities needed for comfortable and safe cruising (even while shorthanded,) DAZY is a rare find in today’s market.
