December 16 2013
Yacht World the world industries MLS provider just reported brokerage sales numbers for the month of November. In the United States the total number of boats sold increased by 18%. There were 1,983 sold, a gain of nearly 300 boats from November 2012, which represents an 18% increase.
The total value of the boats sold in November was $233.7 million dollars, a 6% increase from 2012. November was the 7th consecutive month of record sales for the years 2008 to 2013, according to Yacht World. Power boat sales were especially strong with 1,535 sold representing an increase of 21% from November 2012. The total price paid was up 6% to $195.2 million, reflecting a lower average selling price.
Sailboats sold, which represents an 8% increase, a total sales value of $38.5 million dollars. That is a 5% increase over November 2012.
The eleven month of the year on the books, 30,000 boats have been sold and the number already exceeds sales of any year since 2007.
I would project that now that boat sales are strongly trending upwards it will only be a matter of time before prices will begin to firm up for the first time in a very long while.
