Chris Craft Yachts For Sale
Founded in 1884 in Algonac, Michigan, Chris Craft was once the undisputed king of the worldwide pleasure boat industry. After the war Chris Craft introduced a new lineup of civilian pleasure boats in time for the massive American consumer expansion of the 1950s. In 1964, Chris-Craft launched the all-fiberglass Chris-Craft Commander. Between the 1960s and 1980s, Chris-Craft lost market share as competitors with more innovative designs and less expensive manufacturing techniques such as fiberglass hulls came on the scene. Chris-Craft ended production of its last mahogany-hulled boat, the Constellation, in 1971. Eventually the Chris Craft product line fell from public favor, and in 1989 the company assets were sold at auction to industry-giant OMC Marine. OMC went into bankruptcy in 2001 and production of Chris Craft boats was discontinued. In 2001 Chris-Craft was purchased by Stellican Ltd. Operations resumed as the new owners introduced a series of premium, retro-style Chris Craft models.
