The Viking Sport Cruiser series is the result of a collaboration begun in 1995 between Viking Yachts and Marine Projects, the Plymouth, England builder of Princess Yachts. The first Viking Sport Cruisers models—production Princess models built to Viking’s specifications—were imported into the U.S. for the 1996 model year. As the U.S. market for European production yachts expanded in the late 1990s, Viking expanded the Viking Sport Cruisers series to include 13 models from 40' to 84' in length. According the the Viking web site, in 2010 Viking Sport Cruisers and Princess Yachts International announced that, beginning with the 2011 model year, yachts built for North America, Central America, and the Caribbean would be branded as Princess, with Viking Sport Cruisers continuing as the distributor for these markets and providing sales and service support for customers through its dealers.
