Bertram Yachts For Sale | Luke Brown Yachts
Bertram began building boats in 1961 with the introduction of the world-famous Bertram 31, a classic fishing boat design with a then-radical deep-V hull. (Note that the first fiberglass Bertram hull was a racing boat, the Bertram 31 Glass Moppie.) During the 1970s and 1980s, Bertram experienced an era of steady growth while diversifying its lineup to include several motoryacht designs as well as sportfishing boats. Early on, Bertram focused its marketing on the company’s Hunt-designed deep-V hulls. Bertram and Hatteras were arch-rivals in the 1980s, with Hatteras eventually winning out thanks to a more diverse model selection and better in teriors. Financial difficulties—owing to a poor U.S. economy and Bertram’s concentration on sportfishing boats only—forced a shutdown of the firm in 1993. In 1998 Bertram Yacht was purchased by the Ferretti Group, an Italian yachting conglomorate. The Italian-based Gavio Group acquired Bertram’s assets in 2015 with plans to introduce several all-new Bertram models.
