Benetti is one of the oldest manufacturers of luxury motor yachts in the world. Established by Lorenzo Benetti in 1873, the company initially built wooden boats used for local and international trade. After Lorenzo's death, his two sons Gino and Emilio took over and renamed the boatyard to Fratelli Benetti. They quickly built a reputation that extended beyond the Mediterranean. After the Second World War, with the disappearance of commercial wooden sailing vessels, Benetti shifted its focus and started manufacturing pleasure craft made from steel. In the early 1960s, the boatyard produced its first luxury mega yachts. Since 1980, Benetti has included big motor yachts in the 30 to 60-meter range and beyond, including the famous 86-meter 'Nabila.' In 1985, Azimut Spa, a celebrated Turin-based boat builder, acquired the boatyard. They brought in new management and transformed Benetti into the modern, technologically advanced reality we know today.
