Brothers Dick and Brad Lazzara formed the Lazzara Yacht in 1991, but the company’s roots go back to the 1960s when father Vince Lazzara established sailboat-builder Columbia Yachts. Following the sale of Columbia in 1967, Lazzara and sons established Gulfstar Yachts which went on to market a series of successful fiberglass motoryachts and motorsailers. In 1987 Gulfstar merged with Viking Yachts to form the Viking-Gulfstar line of motoryachts, but the luxury tax of 1990 caused the venture to fail. The brothers sold their interest in Gulfstar to Viking and, in 1990, founded Lazzara Yachts. By 1992 the company’s first yacht, the Lazzara 76, was launched. Lazzara continued to build highly personalized yachts through it’s 106, 110, and 116 product lines. No two 100 footers built by Lazzara ha ve been the same.
